As part of the colossal construction project of the International Museum of the Biography of the Prophet, located in the clock tower of Mecca, I had the opportunity to undertake carpentry work of exceptional scope and complexity. Each phase of this project required meticulous technical expertise and architectural sophistication to harmonize sacred, aesthetic, and functional aspects.
Design of false ceilings made of solid wood with traditional Islamic geometric patterns. Modular system for easy maintenance and access to technical installations (air conditioning, lighting, wiring). Integrated acoustic treatment to ensure optimal sound quality, necessary in a meditation environment.
Custom wood sculptures, incorporating refined traditional motifs (arabesques and calligraphy). Use of hand-carving techniques for each panel to ensure a high-precision finish. Installation of panels on custom metal structures to ensure their stability and longevity in a high-traffic environment.
Design of wooden display cases combined with tempered glass elements for the presentation of exhibits. Installation of modern security systems including alarms and detectors, while allowing optimal display of objects. Optimization of lighting integrated into the wooden structures to highlight artifacts while avoiding glare.
Application of high-quality varnish and anti-humidity treatment for wooden elements to ensure their longevity. Installation of electrical and ventilation systems concealed within the wooden elements to maintain a seamless and harmonious aesthetic.
One of the biggest challenges was adapting traditional carpentry techniques to modern requirements of safety, accessibility, and durability, while preserving the architectural and spiritual integrity of the museum. Each solution was designed to not disrupt the visitor's experience while offering maximum functionality.
This prestigious carpentry project goes beyond simple interior design. It embodies a living tribute to the history of the Prophet, traditional craftsmanship, and technical modernity. The International Museum of the Biography of the Prophet thus becomes a place of devotion, reflection, and transmission, where every carpentry element serves to amplify the spiritual message of the site.
